Champions League preview: Tottenham eager to regain momentum with win against Bayer Leverkusen

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Germany to face inconsistent Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night as they eye their second victory in three games in the Champions League. Knowing a win could all but guarantee them a spot in the knockout stages, they will hope to carry their fine Premier League form into the crucial clash.

Tottenham are coming off a rather dull 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion although they were on an impressive form prior to the international break. On the other hand, Leverkusen now sit tenth in the Bundesliga standings with just 10 points in seven games.

Preview: Leicester City vs Southampton

Premier League preview: Leicester City versus Southampton

Twelfth-placed Leicester City will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League, when Southampton visit King Power Stadium this weekend. The Sunday’s game is definitely a must-watch for the neutrals as two spirited and hard-working sides go up against each other to gain a foothold in the league.

The hosts are merely shadows of their former selves this season as they have struggled for consistency since the start of their 2016/17 campaign.

Preview: Swansea City vs Liverpool

Premier League preview: Swansea City versus Liverpool

High-flying Liverpool travel to Liberty Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in search of their fifth consecutive victory, against Swansea City, who themselves will look to end their winless run of five games to move further away from the relegation zone.

Barring a shock 2-0 loss to Turf Moor, the Reds have enjoyed a terrific start to their campaign, drubbing fellow-title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea on the road. Having scored four or more goals on five occasions, against Arsenal, defending Premier League champions Leicester City, Hull City, and Burton Albion, they will head into the game in high spirits.

Given their record so far, Jurgen Klopp’s men can challenge for the title, especially with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Leicester City showing little to no sign of being credible title contenders.

Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City

Premier League preview: Tottenham Hotspur versus Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City go head to head in a top-of-the-table clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon as the latter look to extend their lead atop the Premier League table further. Although the hosts have enjoyed a stellar start to their campaign, the major focus of the game will likely be on whether the Blues can extend their winning run.

The Lilywhites crumpled under pressure at the tail end of the last season, but they have superbly picked themselves up, as they remain the only undefeated side in the English top-flight besides their Sunday’s opponents. With squad depth being an issue last season, their manager Mauricio Pochettino has brought in signings, who not only add to the depth but also offer competition for the club’s first team regulars.

However, Tottenham are yet to face a juggernaut like the Citizens.

CL Preview: Celtic vs Manchester City

Champions League preview: Celtic versus Manchester City

Manchester City travel to Scotland to face Celtic with the view to claiming the latter’s scalp to maintain their perfect start to the 2016/17 campaign. The Citizens are coming off 10 consecutive victories, with their most recent win coming against Swansea City on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s credentials and his ability to compete in a highly unpredictable and competitive league in Premier League were questioned upon his arrival at Etihad Stadium. However, he has answered his doubters in the best and a rather unconventional way – loaning first choice ‘keeper Joe Hart out and demoting Yaya Toure to the bench – possible. The Wednesday’s showdown should, in theory, be a walk in the park, but Celtic are opponents they cannot look down upon.

CL Preview: Leicester City versus Porto

Champions League preview: Leicester City versus Porto

Leicester City welcomes Porto to King Power Stadium on Tuesday night – a night that will see Champions League football’s debut at Leicester – as they look to maintain their hundred percent win record in their maiden Champions League campaign.

The Foxes have endured a difficult start to the 2016/17 campaign, registering just three wins in nine competitive outings. Their Premier League title-winning run now seem a flash in the pan as they have shipped four goals on three occasions, against Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United. On their first Champions League night, however, they drubbed Club Brugge 3-0.

CL Preview: CSKA Moscow vs Tottenham Hotspur

Champions League preview: CSKA Moscow versus Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Russia to go head to head with CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night as they look to register their first win in the tournament. Pitted against less than stellar sides such as Bayer Leverkusen, Monaco, and CSKA, Tottenham were pencilled in to qualify for the knockout stages with much ease. However, things hardly went according to the plan, with opening day defeat to Monaco at White Hart Lane mounting pressure on the Londoners.

A second consecutive loss in the competition will definitely make their participation beyond the group stages unlikely. However, since they are coming off three consecutive victories, they will fancy their chances of belting CSKA at their own turf.

CSKA, on the other hand, are coming off a close-fought 1-1 draw with sixth-placed Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League.

West Ham United vs Southampton

West Ham United play host to Southampton as they look to maintain the momentum after eking out a narrow victory over League Two outfit Accrington Stanley on Wednesday night. On the other hand, Southampton, despite being in the bottom half of the Premier League table, have had a solid start to their campaign, losing only to title hopefuls Manchester United and Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic was heralded as one of the best managers in England after he guided United to Europa League qualification last season but, thanks to injuries to key players, he now finds his side languishing in the relegation zone having won just a single game, against 17th-placed Bournemouth.

Man Utd vs Leicester City

GW6 opens with 20-time champions Manchester United welcoming reigning champions Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to hit the ground running after enduring a mixed start to their respective campaigns. The Foxes will be looking to exact revenge on Jose's Man United side that has won August's Community Sheild.

United finally returned to winning ways with a 3-1 away victory over Northampton Town in the English Football League Cup on Tuesday night after suffering three consecutive defeats to Manchester City, Feyenoord, and Watford.

Preview: Chelsea vs Liverpool

We kick-off GW5 with Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea, ( the primary colors of footballing competition Red & Blue ) a game where both teams are evenly matched and could at least have a minor impact on the outcome of the title race. Liverpool, despite playing 75 percent of the league games away from home, are just a single win away from reaching the Champions League spots. Chelsea, on the other hand, now sit atop the Premier League table only to Manchester City.

Antonio Conte’s men were brushed aside during the title favourites discussion at the start of the season; however, though they have managed only a single clean sheet so far – against Burnley at home – they have established themselves as firm title contenders.

Swansea City vs Chelsea

Antonio Conte takes his side to Liberty Stadium on Sunday evening in search of Chelsea’s fourth straight league victory. A victory over Swansea may seem a child’s play on paper but, with the Swans hungry for three points after suffering back-to-back defeats to Leicester City and Hull City, Chelsea will need to be at their absolute best to claim maximum points in Wales.

Chelsea’s Italian manager has revamped the club that underwent a psychological dip last season. Although talent was never a concern at the London club, he has amplified the talent pool, bringing in the likes of Michy Batshuayi, David Luiz, and Marcos Alonso.

Preview: Liverpool vs Leicester City

Premier League preview: Liverpool versus Leicester City

Liverpool welcome Leicester City on Saturday evening for their first home game of the 2016/17 Premier League season. With both sides looking to gain some momentum heading into the more serious phase of the tournament, the clash between Jurgen Klopp’s Gegenpressing and Claudio Ranieri’s counter-attacking football will likely be exciting, to say the least.

The Reds have endured a mixed start to their league campaign, defeating then-unsettled Arsenal 4-3 on the opening day only to lose gloriously to top-flight newbies in Burnley and draw 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in the subsequent fixtures.

Preview: Manchester United vs Manchester City

Premier League preview: Manchester United versus Manchester City

We open GW 4 with the mouth-watering clash at Old Trafford. Manchester United play host to Manchester City in what has been billed as the Match of the Season on Saturday lunchtime as both Manchester clubs look to end each other’s perfect start to their respective Premier League campaigns. Although the outcome of this match will only minimally decide the title winners, the Saturday’s Manchester derby could highlight the two title contenders’ flaws that could decide who would not dethrone Leicester City at the end of the nascent season.

In the wake of high-profile arrivals such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, the fallen giants in United now seem galvanized, but the Blues game will likely be the first game that truly tests their title-winning credentials.

Manchester City vs West Ham United

Premier League leaders Manchester City play host to West Jam United on Sunday evening as they look to maintain their perfect start to the season. They are coming off four consecutive competitive wins, including a 5-0 thrashing of Steaua Bucuresti and a 4-1 away victory over star-studded Stoke City.

Slaven Bilic’s first season at United prompted pundits to pencil in a Champions League spot finish for them this season. Despite that, United are floundering having suffered elimination at the hands of Astra Giurgiu in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night; they lost 2-1 to local rivals Chelsea on the opening day before they bounced back with a narrow 1-0 victory over minnows Bournemouth.
